The audience was convinced that Leigh Barnes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Martin Wilson was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. Fahrettin Türel took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Martin Wilson. Leigh Barnes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Daniel Reading's late challenge caught a RonnyFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daniel Reading helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of RonnyFC booed when Southampton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Reading didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute Nat Langsford shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Graeme Silk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Southampton's goalkeeper Martin Wilson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With an all-out effort, RonnyFC's Martin Wilson threw himself towards the right post 38 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Leigh Barnes, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Martin Wilson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vince Stone, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leigh Barnes in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Martin Wilson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 42 minutes into the game, Vince Stone recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Martin Wilson. Vince Stone showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 5-0. 45 minutes into the match, Southampton's goalkeeper Martin Wilson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fahrettin Türel. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jack Stayton in the 47th minute of play forced RonnyFC's goalkeeper Graeme Silk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jack Stayton to strike the kick off in the second half. Martin Wilson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vince Stone in the 51st minute of the match. After some careless play in the Southampton defense, Vince Stone kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Martin Wilson. The Southampton fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Martin Wilson should have stopped the shot. 54 minutes into the match, Southampton's goal looked a bit too open when Vince Stone came free, but Martin Wilson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 55 minutes into the game, RonnyFC's Fahrettin Türel nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Leigh Barnes succeeded in the game's 64th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 9-0. Vince Stone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute.
