Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Jack Stayton made the kick off and thus started the match. After a defensive mix-up in Southampton's zone, Darryl Henry stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Martin Wilson came out of the goal and Darryl Henry tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 6th match minute, Southampton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jools Denham to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Darryl Henry in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Martin Wilson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Darryl Henry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Nat Langsford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd match minute, Southampton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeffrey Roberts to maneuver through the defense. Travis Gilchrist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jack Stayton in the 28th minute of the match. In the 34th match minute, Durham City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ross Dines to maneuver through the defense. Martin Wilson came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by Durham City's Darryl Henry. But to his dismay, Darryl Henry quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. If Darryl Henry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 48th minute Darryl Henry shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Wilson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Darryl Henry was the one to do the kick off. Southampton's Martin Wilson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Darryl Henry in the 52nd minute of play. Andre Hellen made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 54thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Martin Wilson would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. 55 minutes into the match, Durham City's Andre Hellen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Martin Wilson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jack Stayton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Travis Gilchrist having to interfere. Jools Denham hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. After 65 minutes, Daniel Reading mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Southampton and the Durham City players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Southampton getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Daniel Reading hit a great ball. Martin Wilson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Darryl Henry, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. The supporters of Southampton booed when Durham City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Austen Tabb didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Southampton getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Buster Cornish hit a great ball. Jack Stayton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Travis Gilchrist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 88th minute, Austen Tabb hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Southampton getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Nat Langsford hit a great ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Durham City eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
