In the 20thth minute of the game Stewart Locke who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Durham City's Travis Gilchrist was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tod Ingram showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andre Hellen in the 21st minute of the match. Wirral Town FC's Tod Ingram played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Darryl Henry in the 24th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andre Hellen in the 26th minute of play forced Wirral Town FC's goalkeeper Tod Ingram to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Johnny Mason during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Johnny Mason hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Stewart Probert in the 30thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Travis Gilchrist, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Austen Tabb hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Andre Hellen charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Andre Hellen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 33 played minutes Durham City got a freekick which was hit by Andre Hellen. In the 41st match minute, Durham City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Johnny Mason to maneuver through the defense. Stewart Probert recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 45 minutes into the match, Andre Hellen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tod Ingram. Wirral Town FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Andre Hellen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Tod Ingram made an important save on a dangerous shot by Andre Hellen in the 57th minute. Andre Hellen came free with the goalkeeper in the 59th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Tod Ingram could save by the left post. After a rather tough play, Durham City's Blair Salt got a free kick in the 60th minute. Stewart Probert struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Travis Gilchrist didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wirral Town FC. With his leg Tod Ingram managed to avoid a goal in the 68thth minute, when Durham City's Andre Hellen fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 70 minutes into the game, Wirral Town FC's Stewart Locke nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Travis Gilchrist made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Travis Gilchrist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stewart Locke in the 76th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stewart Probert in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Travis Gilchrist prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Grant Creighton came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Wirral Town FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Grant Creighton couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Durham City booed when Wirral Town FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Darius Bailey didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Darryl Henry in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tod Ingram prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Durham City booed when Wirral Town FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Seth Mabbutt didn't get a good kick on the ball. There was no doubt that Wirral Town FC were the better team. Wirral Town FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
