Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Kestelburn Village's Martyn Warden started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nicholas Cooke made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Beech in the 8th minute of play. Rodney Sheldon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Nicholas Cooke tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alfie Fawell charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alfie Fawell the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Alfie Fawell hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. When Rio Devaney fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Elsdon's protests and gave Rio Devaney a yellow card for diving instead. Kestelburn Village made a substitution. Alec Winterbottom replaced Perry Denham. Rio Devaney hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rodney Sheldon in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nicholas Cooke saved Elsdon from getting behind. Nicholas Cooke took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martyn Warden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marlon Atkins hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. A collision led to Kestelburn Village getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Chris Bullard hit a great ball. Blair Moyse was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 20th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ivor Henwood got free with Craig Oates in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nicholas Cooke showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodney Sheldon in the 28th minute of the match. Elsdon's Nicholas Cooke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martyn Warden in the 29th minute of play. When Kestelburn Village's Martyn Warden in the 31st minute got a chance for a shot 31st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Elsdon's goalie prevented a goal. Ivor Henwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Craig Oates having to interfere. Nicholas Cooke didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kevin Beech went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 43 minutes into the match, Kestelburn Village's goalkeeper Craig Oates had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ivor Henwood. 46 minutes into the game, Blair Moyse recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Craig Oates. Blair Moyse showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ivor Henwood stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Ivor Henwood managed to get in a good position for a shot. Elsdon's supporters rose to their feet, but Ivor Henwood was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Craig Oates breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Alfie Fawell came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Kestelburn Village fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfie Fawell couldn't finish the play. In the 64th minute Blair Moyse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Craig Oates saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicholas Cooke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martyn Warden, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. A collision led to Elsdon getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Alec Lennon hit a great ball. Brett Varley struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Craig Oates didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Elsdon. Blair Moyse received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Craig Oates tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 73 played minutes Elsdon got a freekick which was hit by Ash Humphreys. Nicholas Cooke showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martyn Warden in the 74th minute of the match. Martyn Warden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ash Humphreys kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. 88 minutes into the game, Elsdon's Ivor Henwood nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Craig Oates made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. After 93 played minutes Kestelburn Village got a freekick which was hit by Kevin Beech. Elsdon's Blair Moyse got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kestelburn Village's Alfie Fawell got his second yellow card of the match in the 95th minute. The referee ordered Alfie Fawell off the ground. The supporters of Elsdon booed when Kestelburn Village was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfie Fawell didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 97th minute of the match Marty Stonehouse sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Craig Oates skillfully saved the ball. Elsdon's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
