After having played for 39 minutes, Mathias Terpstra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Husbands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mathias Terpstra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Gaz Hardwick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Damian Meadowcroft to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Monte Castro FC's Gaz Hardwick got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Damian Meadowcroft's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jeffrey Hindmarsh read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. Monte Castro FC's Derek Simpson managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Dylon Beswetherick in the 90 minute of the game. In the 92nd minute, Gaz Hardwick got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Husbands's Charles Hurst proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Husbands from getting a goal against them. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Husbands were victorious despite being under pressure from Monte Castro FC for much of the match.
