Arcena's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edward Saunders was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robin Whitworth in the 11th minute of play forced Cardiff City's goalkeeper Piers Bowe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Piers Bowe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Saunders in the 12th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Shaun Bowen during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
