Seating: 1837, VIP seats: 159) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Syd Townsend started the match with the kick off. In the 4th minute, Weybridge's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Denny Holmes fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Denny Holmes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Garth Mead tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 12 minutes into the game, Billy Flintoff was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Weybridge's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Farnborough the free kick. The supporters of Farnborough booed when Weybridge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Billy Flintoff didn't get a good kick on the ball. 13 minutes into the match, Farnborough's Luke Harper broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Tod Wardill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Garth Mead having to interfere. Garth Mead was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tod Wardill showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 21 minute of play. Weybridge's Garth Mead proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Weybridge from getting a goal against them. In the 28th minute, Syd Townsend made a precise shot to the right of Rowan Savage. Farnborough's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Pete Gerrard charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pete Gerrard the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ollie Letheren recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Denny Holmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Weybridge's zone, Denny Holmes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Garth Mead came out of the goal and Denny Holmes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tod Wardill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Garth Mead tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Weybridge's Garth Mead proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Weybridge from getting a goal against them. Rowan Savage showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Syd Townsend in the 47th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tod Wardill to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Tod Wardill's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Garth Mead was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Denny Holmes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Farnborough's supporters rose to their feet, but Denny Holmes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Garth Mead breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 54th minute Tod Wardill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Garth Mead saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 60thth minute of the game Denny Holmes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Weybridge's Garth Mead was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ollie Letheren struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Rowan Savage didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Weybridge. Rowan Savage showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Syd Townsend in the 75th minute of the match. Tod Wardill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Garth Mead tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
