Spectators: 7006 (Terracing: 6006, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Sean Millman started the match with the kick off. 6 minutes into the game, Kristopher Waite threw the ball into play from the sideline. Wombwell United's Mark Hall quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After 10 played minutes Wombwell United got a freekick which was hit by Ronny Reddington. In the 12th minute Sean Millman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kris Patten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Neil Hampton in the 13th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Wombwell United's Marek Newman. Ronny Reddington succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 15th playminute. After 18th play minutes Ronny Reddington shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Marty Newbury and just under the crossbar into goal. After 27 minutes of play, Barnham's Sid Bedford made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kris Patten was left in no man's land by his defense there! Marty Newbury showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mark Hall, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 31st match minute, Barnham was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruce Letheren to maneuver through the defense. Ronny Reddington in the 32ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Marty Newbury, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 35th match minute, Wombwell United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mark Hall to maneuver through the defense. Sid Bedford scored 2-2 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kris Patten, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Kris Blueman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ron Ball hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. In the 46th minute, Sean Millman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ronny Reddington to make the kick off. Sean Millman might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kris Patten. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sean Millman ran back to his position shaking his head. Kris Patten didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 53rd minute, which inside left pole to 2-3. The supporters of Wombwell United booed when Barnham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alf Whitmore didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wombwell United's defense didn't have a chance, in the 61st minute, when Reuben Cornish scored to the left of an out of position Kris Patten, making the score, 2-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sid Bedford in the 65th minute of play forced Wombwell United's goalkeeper Kris Patten to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mark Hall's late challenge caught a Barnham's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mark Hall helped the player get up and apologised. Mark Hall kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. Ronny Reddington hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Wombwell United's Ronny Reddington got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 73 minutes into the game, Sean Millman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Barnham's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wombwell United the free kick. Sean Millman kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronny Reddington in the 75th minute of play forced Barnham's goalkeeper Marty Newbury to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ronny Reddington in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marty Newbury saved Barnham from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Barnham's Bruce Letheren got a free kick in the 79th minute. Ronny Reddington took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marty Newbury. Marty Newbury dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-4. Ronny Reddington received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Marty Newbury tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Barnham's zone, Mark Hall stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marty Newbury came out of the goal and Mark Hall tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kris Patten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sid Bedford, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. The supporters of Wombwell United booed when Barnham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sid Bedford didn't get a good kick on the ball.
