Ian Pointon kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. Connor Letheren shot the penalty kick right outside the post. 6 minutes into the game, Victor Hewitt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Phil Guest was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Phil Guest made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Liam Milner in the 10th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Viking Rovers's goal looked a bit too open when Liam Milner came free, but Phil Guest reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Liam Milner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Phil Guest stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Victor Hewitt's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Victor Hewitt scored 0-2 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Phil Guest, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a little luck, Emsworth's Kris Arrowsmith got control of the ball when Ian Pointon tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Benjamin Caton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 28 minutes into the game, Viking Rovers's Ian Pointon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Kris Arrowsmith made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. 32 minutes into the match, Viking Rovers's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Hewitt came free, but Phil Guest reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Viking Rovers's goalkeeper Phil Guest, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sean Jewson during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sean Jewson hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. In the 38th minute, Sean Jewson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 40th minute Emsworth were awarded a corner. Connor Letheren went to the cornerflag to take it. Phil Guest made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Hewitt in the 43rd minute of play. Liam Milner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phil Guest having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kristopher Pack to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Viking Rovers's zone, Victor Hewitt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Phil Guest came out of the goal and Victor Hewitt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Liam Milner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Viking Rovers defense, Victor Hewitt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Phil Guest. The Viking Rovers fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Phil Guest should have stopped the shot. In the 60th minute, Kristopher Pack left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Viking Rovers fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. Emsworth's Liam Milner got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Viking Rovers's Phil Guest proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Viking Rovers from getting a goal against them. Kris Arrowsmith made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benjamin Caton in the 78th minute of play. Liam Milner in the 81stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Phil Guest, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Viking Rovers's Phil Guest played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Liam Milner in the 82nd minute of play. Kris Arrowsmith showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kristopher Pack, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Victor Hewitt's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 85thth minute, Phil Guest skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After 88 played minutes Viking Rovers got a freekick which was hit by Sean Jewson. Victor Hewitt might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Phil Guest. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Victor Hewitt ran back to his position shaking his head. Kris Arrowsmith took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benjamin Caton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kristopher Pack sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Emsworth's Connor Letheren got a free kick in the 96th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Emsworth's zone, Benjamin Caton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kris Arrowsmith came out of the goal and Benjamin Caton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emsworth's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
