Spectators: 8040 (Terracing: 6031, Seating: 1849, VIP seats: 160) Whitworth's Tom Leighton started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In a very dangerous position, a player in Whitworth fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 3rd minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Iain Armstrong, was totally fooled by I Love You Debra's Norman Farrow, who 4 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After some careless play in the I Love You Debra defense, Tom Leighton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Brian Meechan. The I Love You Debra fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Brian Meechan should have stopped the shot. 13 minutes into the match, Whitworth's goalkeeper Iain Armstrong had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Norman Farrow. The audience thought a goal was coming when Norman Farrow got free with Iain Armstrong in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. I Love You Debra's Kristian Brighton got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Whitworth's Iain Armstrong proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Whitworth from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the I Love You Debra defense, Rupert Varley kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Brian Meechan. The I Love You Debra fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Brian Meechan should have stopped the shot. Samuel Nicholson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rupert Varley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Brian Meechan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 36 minutes of play, Whitworth's Leroy Deakin made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Brian Meechan was left in no man's land by his defense there! Brian Meechan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nial Clough, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Brian Meechan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leroy Deakin, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rupert Varley in the 44th minute of play forced I Love You Debra's goalkeeper Brian Meechan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Brian Meechan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tom Leighton in the 46th minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Norman Farrow to make the kick off. Whitworth's Leroy Deakin got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rupert Varley could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Brian Meechan made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tom Leighton in the 58th minute of play forced I Love You Debra's goalkeeper Brian Meechan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of I Love You Debra booed when Whitworth was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rupert Varley didn't get a good kick on the ball. Brian Meechan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rupert Varley in the 67th minute of play. Iain Armstrong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Norman Farrow, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind I Love You Debra's goalkeeper Brian Meechan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 80th match minute, I Love You Debra was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edward Boyle to maneuver through the defense. Tom Leighton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brian Meechan having to interfere. Nial Clough kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. After 85 played minutes I Love You Debra got a freekick which was hit by Edward Boyle. In the 86th minute, Tom Leighton fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Brian Meechan, passed just outside the right post. When the match had gone on for 88 minutes, Tom Leighton took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Brian Meechan to make any attempt to save it. Rupert Varley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Whitworth defense, Norman Farrow kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Iain Armstrong. The Whitworth fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Iain Armstrong should have stopped the shot. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Whitworth had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
