The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alastair Harris who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 3rdth minute tested the skills of Iain Armstrong when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Alastair Harris sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Iain Armstrong took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alastair Harris, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Boscastle's Mike Walters played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tom Leighton in the 14th minute of play. Nial Clough scored 0-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mike Walters, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 19 minutes into the match, Rupert Varley notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Boscastle's Mike Walters. Mike Walters was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Grant Higgins hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. 24 minutes into the game, Tom Leighton cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Mike Walters was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Mike Walters showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rupert Varley, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. In the 34th minute, Tom Leighton ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mike Walters was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Crispin Collingwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iain Armstrong having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Conan Edmunds got free with Iain Armstrong in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Iain Armstrong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Crispin Collingwood in the 41st minute of play. Tom Leighton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Mike Walters tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mike Walters came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by Whitworth's Tom Leighton. But to his dismay, Tom Leighton quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-5.

After a defensive mix-up in Whitworth's zone, Alastair Harris stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iain Armstrong came out of the goal and Alastair Harris tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 59th minute Tom Leighton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mike Walters saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Conan Edmunds came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Boscastle fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Conan Edmunds couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tom Leighton in the 65th minute of play forced Boscastle's goalkeeper Mike Walters to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 66th minute, Boscastle's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Rupert Varley fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After a rather tough play, Whitworth's Gary Kyle got a free kick in the 69th minute. Crispin Collingwood struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Iain Armstrong didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Boscastle. Nial Clough fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mike Walters having to interfere. If Conan Edmunds had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute, Crispin Collingwood got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Boscastle's Alastair Harris in the 78th minute got a chance for a shot 78th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Whitworth's goalie prevented a goal. Iain Armstrong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bradley Rusby, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. 89 minutes into the match, Boscastle's goal looked a bit too open when Tom Leighton came free, but Mike Walters reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 91st minute, Crispin Collingwood made a precise shot to the right of Iain Armstrong. Whitworth's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alastair Harris in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Iain Armstrong saved Whitworth from getting behind. Whitworth's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
