The audience thought a goal was coming when Neil Barnes got free with Iain Armstrong in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Jude Bonham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Neil Barnes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Iain Armstrong having to make a save. In the 45thth minute of the game Jude Bonham who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Whitworth's Iain Armstrong was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Tom Leighton made the kick off in the second half. Rupert Varley recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Leroy Deakin came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Whitworth fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leroy Deakin couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Bognor Regis's Eric Burnham got a free kick in the 56th minute. After 59 minutes of play, Bognor Regis's Jude Bonham made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Iain Armstrong was left in no man's land by his defense there! 64 minutes into the game, Gaz Deaconsfield was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bognor Regis's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Whitworth the free kick. The supporters of Whitworth booed when Bognor Regis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaz Deaconsfield didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jude Bonham in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Iain Armstrong prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 68 minutes, Jude Bonham made it 4-0 with a short kick to the right side. Whitworth's Iain Armstrong tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Bognor Regis's Hugh Eldridge was substituted for Gaz Deaconsfield. Bognor Regis's Neil Barnes got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 74th minute, Scott Harding hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Whitworth's zone, Rodney Mason stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iain Armstrong came out of the goal and Rodney Mason tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nial Clough kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Whitworth's Iain Armstrong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jude Bonham in the 80th minute of play. Iain Armstrong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Neil Barnes, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute.
