Alec Legzdins made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Julian Wilson charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Julian Wilson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 5th minute of the game. One of Rochester United:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Hale:s goal. When the match had been going on for 7 minutes, Hale's Des Bayford got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Alec Legzdins. Alec Legzdins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Will Burgess in the 13th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, Rochester United's goalkeeper Alec Legzdins had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Robin Eadan. An unexpectedly hard shot by Will Burgess in the 17th minute of play forced Rochester United's goalkeeper Alec Legzdins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Huey Beckford could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Alec Legzdins made a huge save. 20 minutes into the match, Rochester United's goalkeeper Alec Legzdins had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Robin Eadan. With a little luck, Rochester United's Alec Legzdins got control of the ball when Robin Eadan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rochester United's Alec Legzdins proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Rochester United from getting a goal against them. Robin Eadan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alec Legzdins read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. Alec Legzdins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Will Burgess, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Hale's Will Burgess slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Alec Legzdins. That made the score 6-0 after 41 minutes of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 6-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Will Burgess made a kick off. Alec Legzdins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Huey Beckford, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 59 minutes of play, Hale's Robin Eadan made it 7-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alec Legzdins was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 64th minute Robin Eadan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alec Legzdins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 8-0 became the score in the 68th minute when Will Burgess elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robin Eadan in the 71st minute of play forced Rochester United's goalkeeper Alec Legzdins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the game, Huey Beckford was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hale's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rochester United the free kick. A collision led to Hale getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Huey Beckford hit a great ball. Alec Legzdins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Garry Draper in the 79th minute of the match. Alec Legzdins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robin Eadan in the 86th minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, Rochester United's goal looked a bit too open when Will Burgess came free, but Alec Legzdins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rochester United's Alec Legzdins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robin Eadan in the 94th minute of play. Hale walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
