After a defensive mix-up in Rochester United's zone, George Șerbulescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronny Maxell in the 88th minute of play forced Rochester United's goalkeeper Alec Legzdins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 89 minutes, Karl Millman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rochester United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Karl Millman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 92nd minute George Șerbulescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alec Legzdins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 94 minutes into the match, Rochester United's goal looked a bit too open when Theagenis Ksagorarakis came free, but Alec Legzdins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Horfield fully deserved thier win.
