FC Colindale's William Ramstad played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronnie Hylton in the 6th minute of play. Rufus Marchant came out of the goal in the 8th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Colindale's Ralph Mawson. But to his dismay, Ralph Mawson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. With a little luck, FC Colindale's William Ramstad got control of the ball when Donald Hellen tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 15 minutes, Ronnie Hylton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carlisle United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronnie Hylton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 18th minute, Florian Herzog got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Stuart Dobby came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the FC Colindale fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stuart Dobby couldn't finish the play. In the 22nd match minute, FC Colindale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Florian Herzog to maneuver through the defense. Rufus Marchant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 35 minutes into the match, FC Colindale's goal looked a bit too open when Ronnie Hylton came free, but William Ramstad reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Donald Hellen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

An unexpected shot in the 59th minute by Ralph Mawson got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 64th minute, Freddy Blacknell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Colindale's goalkeeper William Ramstad, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronnie Hylton in the 71st minute of play forced FC Colindale's goalkeeper William Ramstad to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd match minute, FC Colindale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Simon Bird to maneuver through the defense. After 76 minutes, Sebastian Fearns mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carlisle United and the FC Colindale players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sebastian Fearns kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. The supporters of FC Colindale booed when Carlisle United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. William Ramstad was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 91st minute, Ronnie Hylton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
