After a rather tough play, Carlisle United's Donald Hellen got a free kick in the 9th minute. Dennis Faulkner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rufus Marchant having to interfere. Ethan Panther kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Graeme Rice's late challenge caught a Carlisle United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Graeme Rice helped the player get up and apologised. In the 28th minute, Graeme Rice hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 30 minutes into the game, Ronnie Hylton cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Dane Clist was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Johnathon Hamilton in the 33rd minute of play forced Kidderminster's goalkeeper Dane Clist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Freddy Blacknell took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dane Clist. Dane Clist dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Ronnie Hylton's late challenge caught a Kidderminster's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Doug Armstrong got free with Rufus Marchant in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 45th match minute, Carlisle United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sebastian Fearns to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Carlisle United's zone, Glenn Jump stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rufus Marchant came out of the goal and Glenn Jump tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Doug Armstrong stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 62nd minute Ronnie Hylton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dane Clist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Kidderminster's Dane Clist got control of the ball when Freddy Blacknell tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 64th minute, Donald Hellen ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dane Clist was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. When Glenn Jump fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kidderminster's protests and gave Glenn Jump a yellow card for diving instead. After 67 played minutes Kidderminster got a freekick which was hit by Glenn Jump. If Dennis Faulkner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 73rd minute, Edward Crooks hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 76th minute, Freddy Blacknell reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Dane Clist. The goal made the score 0-4. Dane Clist was out of position in the 80 minute of play, and Donald Hellen capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Donald Hellen really showed his touch with that goal: 0-5. If Dennis Faulkner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 89th match minute, Carlisle United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronnie Hylton to maneuver through the defense. Dane Clist came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Carlisle United's Donald Hellen. But to his dismay, Donald Hellen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. Donald Hellen's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dane Clist firmly grabbed it by the left post.
