An unexpectedly hard shot by Dennis Faulkner in the 6th minute of play forced The Rifles's goalkeeper Rod Flemming to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rod Flemming didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Doug Armstrong went, in the 7th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Dennis Faulkner took the ball and in the 11 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rod Flemming. Rod Flemming dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Dennis Faulkner struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Rod Flemming didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kidderminster. The crowd rose to their feet as Simon Kempson kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dane Clist. That made the score 1-2 in the 18 minute of play. If Seb Hall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dennis Faulkner blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rod Flemming having to make a save. When Simon Kempson came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the The Rifles fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Simon Kempson couldn't finish the play. Through an outstanding action, after 27 minutes, Dane Clist successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Doug Armstrong sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Seb Hall got free with Dane Clist in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Simon Kempson in the 37th minute of play forced Kidderminster's goalkeeper Dane Clist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dane Clist made an important save on a dangerous shot by Seb Hall in the 38th minute. Dane Clist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dale Titmuss, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Kidderminster's Dane Clist got control of the ball when Seb Hall tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Doug Armstrong to strike the kick off in the second half. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Rod Flemming. Graeme Rice sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dale Titmuss in the 69th minute of play forced Kidderminster's goalkeeper Dane Clist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When The Rifles's Seb Hall in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 83rd minute Simon Kempson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dane Clist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 85 minutes Kidderminster's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Duncan Crossley who took care of the corner kick. The supporters of Kidderminster booed when The Rifles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rick Longstaffe didn't get a good kick on the ball. 87 minutes into the match, Doug Armstrong notched a goal, 2-5, to the right of The Rifles's Rod Flemming. Rod Flemming was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Dennis Faulkner came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Kidderminster fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dennis Faulkner couldn't finish the play. Simon Kempson kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Kidderminster's Dane Clist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simon Kempson in the 98th minute of play. When the final whistle sounded Kidderminster left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than The Rifles.
