After a defensive mix-up in Laindon FC's zone, Jeremy Holloway stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Danny Halloran came out of the goal and Jeremy Holloway tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Danny Halloran showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeremy Holloway, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Rodd Armitage took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christian Fox, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 20 played minutes Laindon FC got a freekick which was hit by Trev Granger. After 25 played minutes AEK ATHENS got a freekick which was hit by Todd Leatherdale. Jeremy Holloway sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Gez Heslop had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rodd Armitage showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Fox, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Tamás Honti struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Danny Halloran didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AEK ATHENS. Jeremy Holloway's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Danny Halloran read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. 75 minutes into the match, Tamás Honti had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Danny Halloran. Laindon FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tamás Honti was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. In the 80th minute, Ralph Rutherford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeremy Holloway in the 86th minute of play forced Laindon FC's goalkeeper Danny Halloran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gez Heslop's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rodd Armitage read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, Laindon FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tamás Honti came free, but Danny Halloran reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. AEK ATHENS fully deserved thier win.
