After 23 played minutes Centre of Excellence AFC got a freekick which was hit by Zackary Maylett. When Ben Griffin fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Centre of Excellence AFC's protests and gave Ben Griffin a yellow card for diving instead. In the 26th minute, Ben Griffin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Cody Ashby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Burntwood Foresters booed when Centre of Excellence AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ben Griffin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cody Ashby recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 37 minutes into the match, Centre of Excellence AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Cody Ashby came free, but Leigh Deakin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sol Bell's late challenge caught a Burntwood Foresters's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sol Bell helped the player get up and apologised. After 42 played minutes Centre of Excellence AFC got a freekick which was hit by Sol Bell. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cody Ashby in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leigh Deakin saved Centre of Excellence AFC from getting behind. Sol Bell's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zackary Humphreys read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The corner led Centre of Excellence AFC's CJ Chapman to fire away a dangerous shot which Zackary Humphreys despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 59th minute, Garry Corby got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Zackary Maylett charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After some careless play in the Centre of Excellence AFC defense, Cody Ashby kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leigh Deakin. The Centre of Excellence AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leigh Deakin should have stopped the shot. When Burntwood Foresters's Cody Ashby in 67 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Leigh Deakin guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. 71 minutes into the game, Burntwood Foresters's Cody Ashby nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Leigh Deakin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Leigh Deakin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cody Ashby's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cody Ashby in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Leigh Deakin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 79 minutes into the match, Ronny Attwood had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Leigh Deakin. Centre of Excellence AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ronny Attwood was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. After having played for 82 minutes, Ben Griffin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Centre of Excellence AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ben Griffin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cody Ashby in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leigh Deakin saved Centre of Excellence AFC from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Cody Ashby's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Leigh Deakin was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronny Attwood in the 90th minute of play forced Centre of Excellence AFC's goalkeeper Leigh Deakin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
