Jack Nicholson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tommy Hanley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fitz Lambley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jack Nicholson having to interfere. Pierre Blair hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Nikolay Bonkov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Virgilio Valery in the 75th minute. Garlic Eaters's Nikolay Bonkov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jânio Guedes in the 76th minute of play. Greg Gavan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jack Nicholson having to interfere. After 88 played minutes Blyth AFC got a freekick which was hit by Charles Buard. If Pavol Stano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Greg Gavan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jack Nicholson having to make a save. In the 95th minute Greg Gavan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jack Nicholson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 95 minutes into the match, Greg Gavan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jack Nicholson. Blyth AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Greg Gavan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0.
