Junkyard Dogs's Danny Moretti quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Gonçalo Gomes, made in the 30th minute of the game. Junkyard Dogs's Ozzy Falkingham got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 36th minute Ozzy Falkingham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomislav Strahija saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37th minute, Hugh Branston hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 38th minute of the game. One of Junkyard Dogs:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Kentucky Fried Wings:s goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ozzy Falkingham in the 46th minute of play forced Kentucky Fried Wings's goalkeeper Tomislav Strahija to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A well-hit corner resulted in Pelle Bammerman heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

After 87 played minutes Kentucky Fried Wings got a freekick which was hit by Eric Statham. With an all-out effort, Junkyard Dogs's Tomislav Strahija threw himself towards the right post 89 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ozzy Falkingham, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The audience was convinced that Son van Basten's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ernesto Candeloro was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game. Son van Basten succeeded in the game's 96th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 3-2. Junkyard Dogs's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
