Spectators: 8150 (Terracing: 6113, Seating: 1874, VIP seats: 163) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Bartlomiej Niedzwiecki started the match with the kick off. Bartlomiej Niedzwiecki recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dan Saville fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Semih Eğriöz having to interfere. The Luton Town fans' excitement grew in the 15th match minute when Luton Town's Apolo Quirze looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Frank Pearce came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Luton Town's Inocencio Eguerdi. But to his dismay, Inocencio Eguerdi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Manchester City's goalkeeper Frank Pearce, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 27th minute Manchester City were awarded a corner. Geoffrey De Bougne went to the cornerflag to take it. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Justs Braslavecs managed to get in a good position for a shot. Luton Town's supporters rose to their feet, but Justs Braslavecs was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frank Pearce breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 1-2 became the score in the 31st minute when Bartlomiej Niedzwiecki elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Frank Pearce made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Inocencio Eguerdi in the 34th minute of play. Semih Eğriöz made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Bartlomiej Niedzwiecki sent off a good shot on target. In the 36th match minute, Luton Town was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dennis Whittington to maneuver through the defense. Frank Pearce showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Inocencio Eguerdi, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 45th minute Apolo Quirze shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Pearce saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Apolo Quirze to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd match minute, Luton Town was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Apolo Quirze to maneuver through the defense. In the 56th minute, Dan Saville ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Semih Eğriöz was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Manchester City made a substitution. Anthony Carey replaced Bartlomiej Niedzwiecki. Frank Pearce made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Justs Braslavecs in the 60th minute of play. Anthony Carey blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Semih Eğriöz having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Luton Town's zone, Anthony Carey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Semih Eğriöz came out of the goal and Anthony Carey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Semih Eğriöz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anthony Carey, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Geoffrey De Bougne blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Semih Eğriöz having to make a save. 69 minutes into the match, Manchester City's Geoffrey De Bougne sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Semih Eğriöz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Anthony Carey blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Semih Eğriöz having to make a save. Semih Eğriöz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anthony Carey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice moves Dennis Whittington could shoot a difficult shot in the 73rd minute, which Frank Pearce however easily saved by the left post. After some careless play in the Luton Town defense, Anthony Carey kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Semih Eğriöz. The Luton Town fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Semih Eğriöz should have stopped the shot. Luton Town's Shane Lamb was substituted for Tosh Fordham. Manchester City's attentive Leigh Peyton managed to snatch the ball when Toader Encuțoiu made a throw-in in the 85th minute of the game. Anthony Carey blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Semih Eğriöz having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anthony Carey in the 87th minute of play forced Luton Town's goalkeeper Semih Eğriöz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frank Pearce made an important save on a dangerous shot by Turabi Altınpınar in the 92nd minute. Semih Eğriöz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anthony Carey in the 94th minute of play. 96 minutes had been played when some careless play by Luton Town's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Geoffrey De Bougne was slow to take the kick. During this time Manchester City's players had a chance to rest. Dylon Sedgemore hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match.
