West Ham's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Bryan Elwick in the 4th minute. A nice corner shot did that Kurt Poynton got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Laurence Barraclough quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With his leg Laurence Barraclough managed to avoid a goal in the 7thth minute, when West Ham's Severo Laurentzi fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When J.C. Smith came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the West Ham fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that J.C. Smith couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by J.C. Smith in the 12th minute of play forced Merton Albion FC's goalkeeper Laurence Barraclough to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 12 minutes into the match, J.C. Smith had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Laurence Barraclough. Merton Albion FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that J.C. Smith was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 16th minute Merton Albion FC were awarded a corner. John-Paul Whittingham went to the cornerflag to take it. Merton Albion FC's John-Paul Whittingham was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Hayden Baker in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Hayden Baker took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dean Ashton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hayden Baker showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dean Ashton in the 20th minute of the match. Merton Albion FC's Laurence Barraclough played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Severo Laurentzi in the 21st minute of play. Laurence Barraclough made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Severo Laurentzi sent off a good shot on target. Hayden Baker made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dean Ashton in the 32nd minute of play. Severo Laurentzi's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 36thth minute, Laurence Barraclough skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Hayden Baker showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dean Ashton, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, J.C. Smith managed to get in a good position for a shot. West Ham's supporters rose to their feet, but J.C. Smith was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Laurence Barraclough breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 40 minutes into the match, West Ham's goal looked a bit too open when Dean Ashton came free, but Hayden Baker reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Severo Laurentzi's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 44thth minute, Laurence Barraclough skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dean Ashton in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hayden Baker saved West Ham from getting behind. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Laurence Barraclough showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Severo Laurentzi, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. J.C. Smith sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Slawomir Cieliczka fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Merton Albion FC's protests and gave Slawomir Cieliczka a yellow card for diving instead. After 58 played minutes Merton Albion FC got a freekick which was hit by Slawomir Cieliczka. Hayden Baker made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Dean Ashton sent off a good shot on target. When Slawomir Cieliczka, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 66 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Hayden Baker was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Hayden Baker made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dean Ashton in the 73rd minute of play. A collision led to Merton Albion FC getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Slawomir Cieliczka hit a great ball. A collision led to West Ham getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Laurentius Mändli hit a great ball. Merton Albion FC's Dean Ashton got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. West Ham's Hayden Baker proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save West Ham from getting a goal against them. 89 minutes into the match, Merton Albion FC's goal looked a bit too open when Severo Laurentzi came free, but Laurence Barraclough reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fabio Petruzzi kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. 1-1 came in the 94th minute when John-Paul Whittingham all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Hayden Baker. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
