The Youth Project's Lucas Young played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuel Farmer in the 8th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, The Youth Project's goal looked a bit too open when Samuel Farmer came free, but Lucas Young reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 14th minute Samuel Farmer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucas Young saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 15th minute, Alfie Chivers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mayo's Alfredo Miliano was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Lucas Young in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The goal made the score 2-0. 47 minutes into the match, Mayo's goal looked a bit too open when Rowan Jepson came free, but Alexander Bird reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Martyn Featherstone was the one to do the kick off. If Alfie Chivers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 90th match minute, Mayo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Glyn Smith to maneuver through the defense.
