The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 7 minutes into the match, Witney City's goal looked a bit too open when Wilson Piazza came free, but Tommy Bond reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tommy Bond made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stephen Clapham in the 14th minute of play. In the 17th match minute, Witney City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chip Archer to maneuver through the defense. Tommy Bond came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Stickleback Utd Xl's Fredrik Berggren. But to his dismay, Fredrik Berggren quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 28 minutes into the match, Witney City's goal looked a bit too open when Gary Pettifer came free, but Tommy Bond reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Stickleback Utd Xl's goalkeeper Felix Crayon, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 38th minute Brian Hutchins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Bond saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Stickleback Utd Xl booed when Witney City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gercho Bozhev didn't get a good kick on the ball. Charles-Antoine Dartiguelongue made in the 43rd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Cliff Flower however managed to control. Isaac Booth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gary Pettifer in the 47th minute of play forced Witney City's goalkeeper Tommy Bond to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Stickleback Utd Xl were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 55th minute, Leon Swanson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Stephen Clapham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Bond having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 59th minute by Stephen Clapham got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Tod Berry charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tod Berry the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Witney City's Tod Berry got a free kick in the 66th minute. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 67th minute of the game. One of Witney City:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Stickleback Utd Xl:s goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brian Hutchins in the 71st minute of play forced Witney City's goalkeeper Tommy Bond to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 76th minute Tim Hurren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Felix Crayon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 76th minute, Tim Hurren left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Witney City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. After 78 played minutes Witney City got a freekick which was hit by Leon Swanson. Stephen Clapham could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Tommy Bond made a huge save. In the 84th minute, Stickleback Utd Xl's Brian Hutchins ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tommy Bond. Tommy Bond yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. Stickleback Utd Xl's Stephen Clapham got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Stephen Clapham scored 1-4 in the 88th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tommy Bond, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 92nd minute, Stickleback Utd Xl's Stephen Clapham ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tommy Bond. Tommy Bond yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-5.
