Wasyl Borczak showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mark Booth in the 21st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Coventry Wasps's zone, Rony Schmidt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Syd Cullen came out of the goal and Rony Schmidt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Through an outstanding action, after 22 minutes, Syd Cullen successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The audience was convinced that Zack Doughty's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wasyl Borczak was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Rony Schmidt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stickleback Utd Xl's supporters rose to their feet, but Rony Schmidt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Syd Cullen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. But to his dismay, Rony Schmidt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. 30 minutes into the match, Coventry Wasps's goalkeeper Syd Cullen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francis Curtis. Stickleback Utd Xl's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Benji Browne in the 31st minute. Benji Browne made a great header on Stickleback Utd Xl's corner, it was just that Coventry Wasps's Syd Cullen managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 35th minute Tod McCartney shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Syd Cullen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mark Booth took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wasyl Borczak. Wasyl Borczak dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Syd Cullen made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Rony Schmidt sent off a good shot on target. In the 43rd minute, Zack Doughty left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Coventry Wasps fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Conan Dixon during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Coventry Wasps's Conan Dixon got a free kick in the 47th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tod McCartney to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tod McCartney in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Syd Cullen saved Coventry Wasps from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zack Doughty in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wasyl Borczak prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Stickleback Utd Xl made a substitution. Charles Armitstead replaced Richie Byfield. Coventry Wasps made a substitution. John Moyle replaced Zack Doughty. Coventry Wasps's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. Benji Browne was slow to take the kick. During this time Stickleback Utd Xl's players had a chance to rest. Tony Featherstone charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tony Featherstone the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Tony Featherstone hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Wasyl Borczak made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mark Booth in the 83rd minute of play. Syd Cullen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicholas Poole, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stickleback Utd Xl were awarded a corner in the 90th minute after Coventry Wasps's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Benji Browne took the corner. Pete Munroe was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 97 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Coventry Wasps fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 97th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Stickleback Utd Xl a penalty, 99 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Francis Curtis, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Coventry Wasps's Syd Cullen. 2-3. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Coventry Wasps walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
