Jawed Metaref took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reda El Hadi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nunthorpe's Redouane Djoudi got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Daniel Zaaf had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the match had gone on for 52 minutes, Ahmed Kafi put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Mohammed Bouzid. 56 minutes into the match, East Grinstead's Ahmed Kafi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mohammed Bouzid narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Reda El Hadi struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Jawed Metaref didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. The referee ignored Nunthorpe's protests and gave Farouk Allalou a yellow card for diving instead. After having played for 77 minutes, Addas Balaid managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. East Grinstead's supporters crossed their fingers, but Addas Balaid was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 78 minutes into the match, East Grinstead's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zaaf came free, but Jawed Metaref reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Addas Balaid fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mohammed Bouzid having to interfere. Ahmed Kafi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Mohammed Bouzid tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 90th minute Daniel Zaaf shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jawed Metaref saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 96 minutes into the match, Nunthorpe's goal looked a bit too open when Addas Balaid came free, but Mohammed Bouzid reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
