Afellan Semghoun had in the 23rdth minute some difficulties stopping Younes Saïdani's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After 24 minutes of play Thamesmead United's Salah Halimi was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, Thamesmead United's Salah Halimi got a free kick in the 24th minute. Westhoughton's Yannis Khaldi got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yannis Khaldi in the 42nd minute of play forced Thamesmead United's goalkeeper Afellan Semghoun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 43 minutes into the game, Chokri Naït Mazi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Thamesmead United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Westhoughton the free kick. After 43 played minutes Thamesmead United got a freekick which was hit by Chokri Naït Mazi. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

A collision led to Thamesmead United getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Ghumer Zaoui hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Thamesmead United's zone, Ahmed Belaout stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Afellan Semghoun came out of the goal and Ahmed Belaout tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Westhoughton were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Thamesmead United to leave the ground with a draw.
