The referee ignored Westhoughton FC's protests and gave Djamel Rezkallah a yellow card for diving instead. Djamel Rezkallah hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Westhoughton FC's goalkeeper Chaker Meskouri, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Youssef Hamdani, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Youssef Hamdani took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iher Daouadji, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Adib Belmellat was the one to do the kick off. Chaker Meskouri made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Adib Belmellat sent off a good shot on target. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 55th minute of the game. One of Westhoughton FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Clapham:s goal. Azhar Bezzaz walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. If Mohand Besseghir had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adib Belmellat might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Chaker Meskouri. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Adib Belmellat ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Westhoughton FC's Smaïn Moussa got a free kick in the 66th minute.
