The referee ignored Newmarket's protests and gave Moïse Belmadi a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Leamington Spa AFC booed when Newmarket was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Moïse Belmadi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mohamed Mohand recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 16 minutes into the match, Newmarket's goal looked a bit too open when Choukri Mesli came free, but Salem Chaouchi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Atmane Amara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Assad Salah struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Nordine Segni didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newmarket. Atmane Amara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nordine Segni having to interfere. 32 minutes into the match, Newmarket's Atmane Amara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nordine Segni narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Newmarket's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Aggur Zerguelaine in the 38th minute. After 40 minutes of play, Newmarket's Assad Salah made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nordine Segni was left in no man's land by his defense there! Choukri Mesli's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Salem Chaouchi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. Salem Chaouchi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Choukri Mesli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Newmarket were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Atmane Amara stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Atmane Amara in the 81st minute of play forced Leamington Spa AFC's goalkeeper Nordine Segni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Newmarket's Atmane Amara slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nordine Segni. That made the score 0-3 after 84 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Choukri Mesli in the 91st minute of play forced Newmarket's goalkeeper Salem Chaouchi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
