The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ilian Hammadouch in the 6th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jaber Maghili prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Hartlepool's Malek Cherrad played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bellemou Rodesli in the 17th minute of play. In the 19th match minute, Brampton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aksil Teissier to maneuver through the defense. Salim Reddad's late challenge caught a Hartlepool's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Salim Reddad helped the player get up and apologised. In the 25th match minute, Brampton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Salim Reddad to maneuver through the defense. Mohamed Brahimi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sofiane Harkati fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Malek Cherrad having to interfere. Bellemou Rodesli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Malek Cherrad tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Said Boulebda charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Said Boulebda the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ilian Hammadouch to make the kick off. Bellemou Rodesli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Malek Cherrad having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Hartlepool's zone, Mohamed Brahimi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Malek Cherrad came out of the goal and Mohamed Brahimi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Bellemou Rodesli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Karim Djachem fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hartlepool's protests and gave Karim Djachem a yellow card for diving instead. Karim Djachem kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bellemou Rodesli in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Malek Cherrad saved Hartlepool from getting behind. Adal Ben Arfa hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. After 68 minutes, Afellan Zouccal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hartlepool and the Brampton players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Hartlepool fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 68th minute. Penalty! Brampton's Jaber Maghili played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ilian Hammadouch in the 73rd minute of play. 75 minutes into the game, Bellemou Rodesli was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Brampton's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hartlepool the free kick. Bellemou Rodesli hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Jaber Maghili showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ilian Hammadouch, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. 89 minutes into the game, Sofiane Harkati recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Malek Cherrad. Sofiane Harkati showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. In the 94th minute Ilian Hammadouch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaber Maghili saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 95 played minutes Brampton got a freekick which was hit by Sofiane Harkati. 96 minutes into the game, Hartlepool's Riad Abid nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jaber Maghili made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
