Riad Bilal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 8th match minute, Heckmondwike City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Azzouz Lagab to maneuver through the defense. With his leg Djillali Rezzag managed to avoid a goal in the 11thth minute, when Longwell Green United's Smaïn Khaled fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Ali Cherif had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ali Cherif received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Djillali Rezzag tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Djillali Rezzag made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Smaïn Khaled sent off a good shot on target. Gad Yachir came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Heckmondwike City's Slimane Dahleb. But to his dismay, Slimane Dahleb quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 42nd minute Riad Bilal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Djillali Rezzag saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Heckmondwike City were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ali Cherif to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Heckmondwike City's Okacha Mohamed got a free kick in the 51st minute. Smaïn Khaled struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Djillali Rezzag didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Longwell Green United. If Ali Cherif had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Smaïn Khaled sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Longwell Green United's Ali Cherif got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Smaïn Khaled had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gad Yachir made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Slimane Dahleb sent off a good shot on target. When Heckmondwike City's Toufik Zaoui in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Longwell Green United's goalie prevented a goal. Toufik Zaoui fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gad Yachir having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Heckmondwike City's zone, Smaïn Khaled stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Djillali Rezzag came out of the goal and Smaïn Khaled tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Longwell Green United's Gad Yachir got control of the ball when Slimane Dahleb tried to sneak it across the goal line. Toufik Zaoui received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Gad Yachir tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Djillali Rezzag showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Smaïn Khaled, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Djillali Rezzag took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ali Cherif, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Longwell Green United lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
