A collision led to Newcastle getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Sid Ahmed Fadhil hit a great ball. Fouad Zerara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abdelhamid Metref having to interfere. 11 minutes into the match, Racing Constantine's goal looked a bit too open when Fouad Zerara came free, but Abdelhamid Metref reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mareks Hamšík's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 16thth minute, Abdelhamid Metref skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 18 minutes into the match, Racing Constantine's goal looked a bit too open when Erasmo Macera came free, but Abdelhamid Metref reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zahid Saïfi came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Racing Constantine's Chahid Azem. But to his dismay, Chahid Azem quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Racing Constantine's defense didn't have a chance, in the 23rd minute, when Fouad Zerara scored to the left of an out of position Abdelhamid Metref, making the score, 1-1. If Mareks Hamšík had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zahid Saïfi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hocine Merdaci, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. After some careless play in the Racing Constantine defense, Mareks Hamšík kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Abdelhamid Metref. The Racing Constantine fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Abdelhamid Metref should have stopped the shot. Mareks Hamšík scored 3-1 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Abdelhamid Metref, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Abdelhamid Metref made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Mareks Hamšík sent off a good shot on target.

52 minutes into the match, Fouad Zerara had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Abdelhamid Metref. Racing Constantine's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fouad Zerara was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. Abdelhamid Metref stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mareks Hamšík's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. Mareks Hamšík received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Abdelhamid Metref tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mareks Hamšík sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Racing Constantine's Abdelhamid Metref played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fouad Zerara in the 76th minute of play. Mareks Hamšík fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abdelhamid Metref having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zedi Jamous during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 83rd minute, Zedi Jamous hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 85 minutes into the game, Newcastle's Fouad Zerara nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Abdelhamid Metref made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-1. In the 90th minute, Mareks Hamšík left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Newcastle fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 7-1. Mareks Hamšík might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Abdelhamid Metref. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mareks Hamšík ran back to his position shaking his head. Newcastle walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
