When Manuel Rochedo fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F.C.BARCELONA's protests and gave Manuel Rochedo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 8th minute, Manuel Rochedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edmundo Sá took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ambrósio Fernandes Braga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fábio Barreiros hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Edmundo Sá made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emirares Barreiros in the 30th minute of play. When Maurício Curvelo fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Morpeth's protests and gave Maurício Curvelo a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Morpeth getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Maurício Curvelo hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emirares Barreiros in the 33rd minute of play forced Morpeth's goalkeeper Edmundo Sá to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute Ambrósio Fernandes Braga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmundo Sá saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ambrósio Fernandes Braga to make the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Morpeth was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hipólito Lourenço to maneuver through the defense. Ambrósio Fernandes Braga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. F.C.BARCELONA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emirares Barreiros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 63 minutes into the match, Emirares Barreiros dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Edmundo Sá, 0-1. Emílio Ramos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Morpeth. If Emirares Barreiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 91 minutes, Emirares Barreiros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
