Sheringham's Luís Maurtio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Custódio Canales in the 8th minute of play. Edmundo Tenória sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Custódio Canales made a kick off. After 53 minutes, Toni Pedrosa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sheringham and the Peterlee players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sheringham's Luís Maurtio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Sheringham from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Peterlee booed when Sheringham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edmundo Tenória didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Luís Maurtio managed to avoid a goal in the 62ndth minute, when Peterlee's Gregório Sampaio fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Pompílio Quilempan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Peterlee's Vítor Serineu suffered a sore foot after 79 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Gregório Sampaio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Sheringham's zone, Gregório Sampaio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Maurtio came out of the goal and Gregório Sampaio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Peterlee played a much better game than Sheringham and deserved their victory. The Sheringham players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
