In the 27thth minute of the game Balduíno Fonseca who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Malvern's Maurício Areosa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 28 minutes into the game, Pedro Fontão recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Edmundo Fontão. Pedro Fontão showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Toni Ericeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Malvern's goalkeeper Maurício Areosa , but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Edmundo Fontão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Fontão in the 43rd minute of the match. Maurício Areosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nuno Ericeira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Pedro Fontão made the kick off in the second half. Maurício Areosa was a little too slow when Nuno Ericeira got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 55th minute. The score was now 1-2. Edmundo Pegacho kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Maurício Areosa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nuno Ericeira's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. Balduíno Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edmundo Fontão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Toni Ericeira in the 74th minute of play. The supporters of Whitby booed when Malvern was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lopo Godinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nuno Ericeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Maurício Areosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
