After 5 minutes of play, Olimpianos United's Evaristo Manarte made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nuno Curvelo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Luís Ermida could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Luís Correia made a huge save. In the 12th minute of the match Eduardo De Matos sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luís Correia skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Runcorn booed when Olimpianos United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evaristo Manarte didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th match minute, Olimpianos United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Quim Quilempan to maneuver through the defense. Olimpianos United's Luís Correia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Custódio Canales in the 30th minute of play. Albertino Almeida received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Nuno Curvelo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 34th minute, Evaristo Manarte got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Luís Ermida managed to get in a good position for a shot. Runcorn's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Ermida was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Correia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Custódio Canales to make the kick off. Luís Ermida received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Runcorn's supporters crossed their fingers, but Custódio Canales was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luís Correia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Custódio Canales, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olimpianos United's Luís Correia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rui Cruz in the 74th minute of play. Evaristo Manarte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Nuno Curvelo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Evaristo Manarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Albertino Almeida came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Olimpianos United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albertino Almeida couldn't finish the play. A very good chance. 94 minutes into the match, Olimpianos United's goal looked a bit too open when Custódio Canales came free, but Luís Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Runcorn's Custódio Canales got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Olimpianos United's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
