When Hortêncio Ezequiel Niz fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Prudhoe's protests and gave Hortêncio Ezequiel Niz a yellow card for diving instead. In the 9th minute, Hortêncio Ezequiel Niz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Skelmersdale's Carlos Valies got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Prudhoe's goalkeeper Simão Bastos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Prudhoe's zone, Carlos Valies stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Simão Bastos came out of the goal and Carlos Valies tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 21st match minute, Skelmersdale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Quim Almedia to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Valies got free with Simão Bastos in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Carlos Valies might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Simão Bastos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Valies ran back to his position shaking his head. Carlos Valies recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Prudhoe's Simão Bastos got control of the ball when Carlos Valies tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 43rdth minute of the game Carlos Valies who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Prudhoe's Simão Bastos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Rui Akwa kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. The supporters of Skelmersdale booed when Prudhoe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simão Correia didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlos Valies to make the kick off. Prudhoe's Simão Bastos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Valies in the 60th minute of play. Tadeu Pedrosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Simão Bastos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th minute, Ambrósio Borges hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edmundo Barreiros made in the 77th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Skelmersdale's Quim Almedia. 79 minutes into the match, Prudhoe's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Valies came free, but Simão Bastos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Simão Bastos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Valies, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Carlos Valies struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Simão Bastos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Skelmersdale. In the 89th minute, Quim Almedia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Prudhoe's Ambrósio Borges got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Miguel Vila-Santa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
