The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ambrósio Borges fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Carlos Serineu having to interfere. Paulo Valies fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simão Bastos having to interfere. In the 16th minute, Eduardo Canales got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fábio Malheiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Carlos Serineu having to interfere. In the 24th minute, Paulo Valies left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Wheaton Aston United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ambrósio Borges in the 27th minute of play forced Wheaton Aston United's goalkeeper João Carlos Serineu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wheaton Aston United's João Carlos Serineu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Wheaton Aston United from getting a goal against them. In the 31st minute, Paulo Valies got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rogério Freire, 39 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Ambrósio Borges's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but João Carlos Serineu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. João Carlos Serineu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fábio Malheiro in the 46th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Ambrósio Borges in the 53rd minute of play forced Wheaton Aston United's goalkeeper João Carlos Serineu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. João Carlos Serineu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fábio Malheiro in the 56th minute of play. Fábio Malheiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Fábio Malheiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. João Carlos Serineu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ambrósio Borges in the 66th minute of the match. In the 67th minute, Fábio Malheiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. João Carlos Serineu was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ambrósio Borges in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg João Carlos Serineu saved Wheaton Aston United from getting behind. If Fábio Malheiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 76th minute, Edgar Polido hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 77 minutes into the match, Fábio Malheiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of João Carlos Serineu. Wheaton Aston United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fábio Malheiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Ambrósio Borges received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. João Carlos Serineu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ambrósio Borges in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg João Carlos Serineu saved Wheaton Aston United from getting behind. João Carlos Serineu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ambrósio Borges in the 93rd minute of the match. 97 minutes into the match, Wheaton Aston United's goal looked a bit too open when Fábio Malheiro came free, but João Carlos Serineu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Prudhoe's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
