Avelino Novais showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Valies, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Clube Recreativo Operário's Avelino Novais tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 42 minutes into the game, Quim Almedia threw the ball into play from the sideline. Clube Recreativo Operário's Pôncio Fernandes Braga quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After the first half Skelmersdale were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Carlos Valies made the kick off in the second half. Miguel Da Costa hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Skelmersdale's Carlos Valies got a free kick in the 58th minute. The supporters of Clube Recreativo Operário booed when Skelmersdale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Correia didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 71 played minutes Clube Recreativo Operário got a freekick which was hit by Alão Sampaio. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alão Sampaio in the 74th minute of play forced Skelmersdale's goalkeeper Viveque Matta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 82 played minutes Carlos Valies rounded Clube Recreativo Operário's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-2.
