Welgevonden's Themba Bartlett got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Themba Bartlett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dean Nhlapo having to interfere. After 15 minutes, Patrice Mkhonza mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Kenmore and the Welgevonden players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 15th match minute, FC Kenmore was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrice Mkhonza to maneuver through the defense. With his leg Dean Nhlapo managed to avoid a goal in the 16thth minute, when Welgevonden's Stanton Magakula fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Themba Bartlett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Themba Bartlett's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dean Nhlapo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. Boyisana Okpara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dean Nhlapo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jocob Ntsume, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. If Kingston Kubheka had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kingston Kubheka to make the kick off. Noxolo Konza hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Kingston Kubheka sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, FC Kenmore's Patrice Mkhonza got a free kick in the 57th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Themba Bartlett in the 69th minute of play forced FC Kenmore's goalkeeper Dean Nhlapo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Welgevonden's Boyisani Collins proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Welgevonden from getting a goal against them. Noxolo Konza hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stanton Magakula in the 78th minute of play forced FC Kenmore's goalkeeper Dean Nhlapo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 79th minute, Patrice Mkhonza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stanton Magakula took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dean Nhlapo. Dean Nhlapo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 84th minute, Stanton Magakula made a precise shot to the right of Dean Nhlapo. FC Kenmore's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Boyisani Collins made an important save on a dangerous shot by Boyisana Okpara in the 91st minute. In the 92nd match minute, Welgevonden was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Noxolo Konza to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 93 minutes, Kingston Kubheka managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Kenmore's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kingston Kubheka was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Welgevonden had won after a very even match.
