Gazini's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Badplaas the free kick. After 18 played minutes Gazini got a freekick which was hit by Siyabonge Mathibe. Bradley Phakathi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Simamane Cassim's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. Maseti Shoba was shown his second yellow card after 27 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 27th minute, Maseti Shoba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 29th minute Lebang Serage managed to get in a great position but fired away a sharp shot that went outside the goal on the goalie's right hand side. It could just as well have been a goal. In the 35th minute, Mpenza Stoltz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Gary Thompson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gazini's supporters rose to their feet, but Gary Thompson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hassan Radebe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bradley Phakathi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mpenza Stoltz in the 38th minute of the match. Gary Thompson might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hassan Radebe. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
