Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Jonas Pretorius started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silas Wanani during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Silas Wanani kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Buccaneers's zone, Lindo Thabang stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Etienne Tau came out of the goal and Lindo Thabang tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 7 played minutes Buccaneers got a freekick which was hit by Silas Wanani. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jonas Pretorius during the 8th minute. Jonas Pretorius received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Etienne Tau tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lindo Thabang recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 13th minute, Jonas Pretorius left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Hopwood fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After a rather tough play, Buccaneers's Silas Wanani got a free kick in the 18th minute. Silas Wanani kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. In the 22nd minute, FC Hopwood's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Aubrey Setlaba fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. With a little luck, FC Hopwood's Brandon Nunes got control of the ball when Aubrey Setlaba tried to sneak it across the goal line. Brandon Nunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lesego Mbheki in the 28th minute of play. The supporters of FC Hopwood booed when Buccaneers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aubrey Mufumadi didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Jonas Pretorius had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Lindo Thabang received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Etienne Tau tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lesego Mbheki to strike the kick off in the second half. Mthunzi Mokatimi took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Brandon Nunes. Brandon Nunes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 66th minute, Lindo Thabang got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lindo Thabang might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Etienne Tau. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lindo Thabang ran back to his position shaking his head. Jonas Pretorius fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Etienne Tau having to interfere. Etienne Tau made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Lindo Thabang sent off a good shot on target. When Lindo Thabang came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the FC Hopwood fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lindo Thabang couldn't finish the play. FC Hopwood played a much better game than Buccaneers and deserved their victory. The Buccaneers players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
