Spectators: 6943 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1943, VIP seats: 0) In the 4thth minute of the game Alex Mkhize who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Lutha's Mathibela Dinha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Alex Mkhize fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mathibela Dinha having to interfere. FC Wepener's Oliver Zwane got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 13 minutes into the match, FC Lutha's goal looked a bit too open when Alex Mkhize came free, but Mathibela Dinha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 14 played minutes FC Lutha got a freekick which was hit by Nick Melele. The FC Wepener fans' excitement grew in the 18th match minute when FC Wepener's Alex Mkhize looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Alex Mkhize received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Mathibela Dinha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Oliver Zwane managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Wepener's supporters rose to their feet, but Oliver Zwane was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mathibela Dinha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Oliver Zwane received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Mathibela Dinha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Oliver Zwane sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Mathibela Dinha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Mkhize in the 33rd minute of play. After having played for 38 minutes, William Mncube managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Lutha's supporters crossed their fingers, but William Mncube was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alex Mkhize was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute, Bernard Lekgwathi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Oliver Zwane came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the FC Wepener fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oliver Zwane couldn't finish the play. Michael Edwards took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from William Mncube, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC Wepener's goalkeeper couldn't reach when William Mncube 62 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. After a rather tough play, FC Wepener's Alex Mkhize got a free kick in the 67th minute. If Mpho Thembe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 70th minute, Jonas Tau hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. William Mncube sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Oliver Zwane sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oliver Zwane in the 77th minute of play forced FC Lutha's goalkeeper Mathibela Dinha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Michael Edwards made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mpho Thembe in the 80th minute. When Oliver Zwane came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the FC Wepener fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oliver Zwane couldn't finish the play. Mpho Thembe struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Michael Edwards didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Lutha. Mpho Thembe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as William Mncube kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Michael Edwards. That made the score 1-2 in the 90 minute of play. Alex Mkhize fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mathibela Dinha having to interfere. The FC Wepener manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing FC Lutha to win.
