If Steve Melele had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jabu Mabele during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 4th minute, Jabu Mabele hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Blaton FC booed when DISTRICT 9 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dean Patel didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to DISTRICT 9 getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Vuyani Sewele hit a great ball. Godfrey Stoltz hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. DISTRICT 9's Johann Thompson got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Siyabonge Mbheki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Johann Thompson, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. In the 19th minute, Bradley Collins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Hanile Mkhize had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Steve Melele in the 32nd minute of play forced Blaton FC's goalkeeper Siyabonge Mbheki to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Johann Thompson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Siyabonge Mbheki made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Johann Thompson in the 45th minute of play. DISTRICT 9's Albert Mufadi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hanile Mkhize in the 47th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Steve Melele to strike the kick off in the second half. When Godfrey Stoltz fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Blaton FC's protests and gave Godfrey Stoltz a yellow card for diving instead. Johann Thompson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Blaton FC's Siyabonge Mbheki got control of the ball when Johann Thompson tried to sneak it across the goal line. 74 minutes into the match, DISTRICT 9's goal looked a bit too open when Hoadley Wanani came free, but Albert Mufadi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Blaton FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jabu Mabele in the 80th minute. The corner led Blaton FC's Jabu Mabele to fire away a dangerous shot which Albert Mufadi despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Albert Mufadi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hanile Mkhize, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Steve Melele was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 83rd minute. DISTRICT 9's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 85 minutes into the match, Blaton FC's goal looked a bit too open when Steve Melele came free, but Siyabonge Mbheki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Steve Melele fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Siyabonge Mbheki having to interfere. 95 minutes into the match, Blaton FC's goalkeeper Siyabonge Mbheki had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Patrice Maduna. Blaton FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
