Lazarus Mothobi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Noxolo Sephiri went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Sizwe Okpara didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eric Inguana went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. A collision led to FC Ajax getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Madolo Kekana hit a great ball.

Mabusela Mhlathe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sizwe Okpara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric Inguana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Noxolo Sephiri in the 60th minute of play forced FC Steelpoort's goalkeeper Lazarus Mothobi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eric Inguana blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sizwe Okpara having to make a save. Sizwe Okpara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mabusela Mhlathe in the 63rd minute of play. FC Ajax's Cornell Manyethela got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Noxolo Sephiri was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 68th minute. FC Ajax's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 69th match minute, FC Steelpoort was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yacoob Fortuin to maneuver through the defense. If David Patel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of FC Ajax booed when FC Steelpoort was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Milton Vanker didn't get a good kick on the ball. David Patel could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Lazarus Mothobi made a huge save. In the 95th minute Mabusela Mhlathe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sizwe Okpara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Ajax succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though FC Steelpoort had controlled the match.
