The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd match minute, Welgesien was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albert Mufadi to maneuver through the defense. 6 minutes into the match, Welgesien's goal looked a bit too open when Jafta Nauseb came free, but Nicholas Mabele reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Allan Mhlongo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joseph Klaasens in the 7th minute of play. Thanyani Takane struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Allan Mhlongo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Welgesien. In the 31st minute Joseph Klaasens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Allan Mhlongo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Welgesien booed when Ajax Amsterdam was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Godfrey Madima didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Thanyani Takane had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Thanyani Takane was the one to do the kick off. Allan Mhlongo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thanyani Takane in the 52nd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Joseph Klaasens kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Allan Mhlongo. That made the score 0-1 in the 54 minute of play. When Welgesien's Thanyani Takane in the 57th minute got a chance for a shot 57th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ajax Amsterdam's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of Welgesien booed when Ajax Amsterdam was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Godfrey Madima didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Thanyani Takane managed to get in a good position for a shot. Welgesien's supporters rose to their feet, but Thanyani Takane was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Allan Mhlongo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Welgesien's Albert Mhlongo shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 65th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Allan Mhlongo but with some difficulty. When Thanyani Takane came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Welgesien fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thanyani Takane couldn't finish the play. Joseph Klaasens recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 72 minutes into the match, Welgesien's Joseph Klaasens sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Allan Mhlongo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Thanyani Takane had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Welgesien's Joseph Klaasens got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Joseph Klaasens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Joseph Klaasens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Allan Mhlongo having to interfere. In the 85th minute, Thanyani Takane reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Allan Mhlongo. The goal made the score 0-2. 89 minutes into the game, one of Ajax Amsterdam:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Nicholas Mabele showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bradley Tau, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute. When the final whistle sounded Welgesien left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Ajax Amsterdam.
