In the 15th minute, Timothy Radebe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Madolo Strauss charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Madolo Strauss the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Mthunzi Maduna had in the 19thth minute some difficulties stopping Albert Mufadi's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Kenny Mbheki blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nicholas Mabele having to make a save. Thanyani Takane was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 27th minute. Welgesien's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 31st minute Thanyani Takane shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mthunzi Maduna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicholas Mabele showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kenny Mbheki, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Mthunzi Maduna was out of position in the 34 minute of play, and Thanyani Takane capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Thanyani Takane really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Dumisane Cassim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Nicholas Mabele tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee ignored Bloemspruit's protests and gave Timothy Radebe a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Bloemspruit getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Timothy Radebe hit a great ball. When Thanyani Takane came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Welgesien fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thanyani Takane couldn't finish the play. Kenny Mbheki fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicholas Mabele having to interfere. Nicholas Mabele made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dumisane Cassim in the 67th minute. Dumisane Cassim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
