In the 7th minute, Cornell Takane got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fuzile Shoba hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. When Cornell Takane came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Soutpomp fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cornell Takane couldn't finish the play. In the 17th minute, Stanton Laher got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Soutpomp fans' excitement grew in the 19th match minute when Soutpomp's Boyisana Laher looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Cornell Takane came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Soutpomp fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cornell Takane couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Boyisana Laher got free with Ricky Arendse in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Stanton Laher fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Phoenix's protests and gave Stanton Laher a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Soutpomp booed when FC Phoenix was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stanton Laher didn't get a good kick on the ball. 35 minutes into the game, Boyisana Laher recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ricky Arendse. Boyisana Laher showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Boyisana Laher fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricky Arendse having to interfere. Fuzile Shoba charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fuzile Shoba the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 47 played minutes FC Phoenix got a freekick which was hit by Fuzile Shoba.

The wind increased when Cornell Takane made the kick off in the second half. Tyrell Shoba hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Stanton Laher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Elias Modipa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Soutpomp's zone, Stanton Laher stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elias Modipa came out of the goal and Stanton Laher tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 66 minutes into the game, Mthunzi Takalani was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Phoenix's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Soutpomp the free kick. When the match clock showed 83 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Stanton Laher sped through Soutpomp's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Elias Modipa. An unexpectedly hard shot by Boyisana Laher in the 87th minute of play forced FC Phoenix's goalkeeper Ricky Arendse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cornell Takane received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Ricky Arendse tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Soutpomp's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cornell Takane was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee ended the match the Soutpomp players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
