Spectators: 8419 (Terracing: 6315, Seating: 1936, VIP seats: 168) Liverpool FC's Lucas Thobejane started the match with a crisp pass. After 9 played minutes Highfield got a freekick which was hit by Hlamane Thembe. Hlamane Thembe recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sanjay Sibeko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leslie Bartlett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Leslie Bartlett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sanjay Sibeko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lesego Shoba, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Lesego Shoba made the kick off in the second half. When Henry Madiya came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Liverpool FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Henry Madiya couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucas Thobejane in the 57th minute of play forced Highfield's goalkeeper Anton Magagane to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 61st minute, one of Highfield:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Highfield. 69 minutes into the match, Liverpool FC's Lucas Thobejane sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anton Magagane narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Highfield's Norman Mumede got a free kick in the 74th minute. Liverpool FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Lucas Thobejane was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anton Magagane breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 95 minutes, Norman Mumede mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Highfield and the Liverpool FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Highfield getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Norman Mumede hit a great ball. The Liverpool FC support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
